Astigmatism and Children?

Astigmatism is a condition in the eye that can cause blurred vision. Astigmatism causes the front surface of the eye, or cornea, to not be curved properly. Some describe the cornea to be more of a football shape when Astigmatism is present. Since the cornea is not shaped properly when light rays enter the eye they are not processed correctly causing a blurred vision. This condition is normally something somebody is born with, but can develop after an injury or eye surgery. Depending on how severe it is, will decide if children with Astigmatism need treatment as children or if they can wait until they are adults.
